How To Make Classic Chili And Bean-Less Chili Recipes

When it comes to making chili, I enjoy making it all year long. During the
summertime, its a nice family dinner that doesn't require the use of an
oven on a long hot summer day. During the winter, chili is a great meal
during those long dark cold winter days.

The first recipe is a classic recipe...but the second one is a Texas-style
bean-less version. If you enjoy making freezer meals, I would suggest
using the first recipe as it freezes well for future meals. Each one will
feed 4-6 people.

Classic Chili Recipe

2 lbs. lean ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced
2 medium onions, finely chopped
1 1/2 teaspoons table salt
2 tablespoons chili powder
1/4 teaspoon red cayenne pepper
dash of cloves
2 large cans kidney beans plus juice
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
2 teaspoons basil
4 cups tomato juice
1 can crushed tomatoes

Note: If you like it really spicy, you can increase the chili powder to 4
tablespoons.

In a large skillet, brown your lean ground beef with minced garlic and
finely chopped onions until ground beef is no longer pink. Drain grease
from beef and set aside. In a large stock pot, combine all of the above
ingredients including the spices. Stir in the browned ground beef. Turn
heat to low and simmer for approximately 45 minutes or until its done.

Bean-less Beef Chili

2 lbs. lean boneless beef chuck
1/4 cup salad oil
1 large onion, finely chopped
3 green peppers, diced
3 cloves garlic, crushed
2 (28 ounce) cans tomatoes
1 (12 ounce) can tomato paste
3 tablespoons chili powder
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons table salt
1 tablespoon oregano
1 teaspoon crushed red peppers
3 cups water
1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese for garnishing

Rinse and cut beef chuck into 1" cubes and set aside. In a large stock
pot, heat salad oil over medium heat and add in the beef cubes. Brown beef
cubes on all sides until they are no longer pink. Remove beef cubes and
set aside. Stir chopped onions, green pepper and garlic in the stock pot
for 10 minutes over medium heat, stirring every 2-3 minutes. Return the
beef cubes to the stock pot and then add in the can of tomatoes with
liquid and remaining ingredients, except for the cheese. Bring to a boil
and then reduce heat to a simmer, cover stock pot and cook over low heat
for 1 hour or until done. Ladle chili into bowls and sprinkle Monterey
Jack cheese on top.

company is doing. Like most of Blizzard's upcoming releases, we'll have to
wait and see on Battle.net.

Dresorull has just released a list of known issues (unfixed bugs) in Patch
3.2. This patch has its fair share of bugs in it, however from personal
experience I think it has a ways to go before it reaches the bugginess
level of the patch 3.0.x branch.

This laundry list of issues comes after yesterday's first round of in-game
hot fixes. Based on previous patches, I wouldn't be surprised to see
another round of hot fixes released tonight.

Some of the more major bugs in patch 3.2 that are on Dresorull's list

spareribs, sauerkraut, cabbage, onion,and apple in CROCK-POT. Add caraway
seeds or dill weed to the water and pour over all. Cover and set to Low
for 6 to 8 hours or high for 4 to 5 hours. Stir several times during the
cooking process if using the high setting.

CREAMY, CHUNKY CHICKEN SOUP

1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinnless chicken breasts, cut into 2-inch strips

2 tsp vegetable oil

2/3 cup finely chopped onion

2 medium carrots, chopped

2 celery ribs, chopped

1 cup frozen corn

2 cans (10 3/4 oz ea) condensed cream of potato soup, undiluted

1 1/2 cups chicken broth

1 tsp dill weed

1 cup frozen peas

1/2 cup half-and-half cream

In a large skillet, over medium high heat, brown the chicken in the oil.
With a slotted spoon, transfer the chicken to a 5-quart slowcooker or
crockpot. Add the onion, carrots, celery, and corn. In a medium mixing
bowl, whisk the soup, broth and dill together until well blended. Stir
the mixture into the slowcooker. Cover the cooker and set on low. Cook
soup for 4 hours or until the vegetables are tender. Stir in the peas and
the cream. Cover and cook another 30 minutes or until heated through.

either side, palms up, and your eyes closed. This pose is typically used
as a cool down at the end of a yoga routine or as an integral part of
meditation exercises and usually involves deep breathing.

Yoga is a great discipline to get into for people of all ages. There are a

beginners are not particularly difficult, although you may be a little

CARAWAY (German) BEEF VEGETABLE SOUP

2 bacon slices, cut into pieces

1/2 lb round steak, cut into small pieces

1 can beef broth

1 can diced tomatoes, undrained

2 cups water

1/4 cup chili sauce or catsup

1/2 tsp caraway seed

2 cups coarsely chopped cabbage

1 cup sliced carrots

1/4 cup quick-cooking barley

In a 3-qt saucepan, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Add beef;
cook, stirring, until beef is browned. Stir in broth, tomatoes, water,
sauce and caraway seeds. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer,
uncovered, for 10 minutes. Stir in cabbage, carrots and barley. Continue
to simmer about 20 minutes until beef and barley are tender.

Makes 4 servings. Per serving: 25g carbs and 17g protein

GERMAN CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE

1 Graham cracker crumb crust
2 pkgs (4-oz each) German sweet chocolate
1/2 cup butter or margarine
3 eggs
1 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
3 (8-oz each) pkgs cream cheese, room temperature
1/4 cup flour
1 cup sour cream

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Press the crumb crust on the bottom and sides of a 9-inch springform pan
(or use a deep dish crust)

Melt chocolate and butter together in a saucepan over very low heat,
stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from the heat.

In a small mixer bowl, beat eggs thoroughly. Gradually beat in the sugar
beat until light in color and thick. Stir in the vanilla.

In a large mixer bowl, beat the cream cheese until light and fluffy. Add
the egg mixture to the cream cheese and blend thoroughly. Stir in the
flour until smooth.

Stir the sour cream into the chocolate butter mixture; blend into the
cream cheese mixture. Pour into the crust.

Bake at 350 degrees for one hour and fifteen minutes. Turn the oven off,
open the oven door to an ajar position and let cake sit in the oven for
another hour. Finish cooling on a wire rack. After cake is cooled, chill
for two hours before serving.
